Kimberley lives for the school run. It is her catwalk, her stage, her daily audition for the role of “most fabulous mum at the gates.” She turns up fully dolled up, lashes fluttering at 8:55 a.m., just in case a single dad happens to glance her way.
She did this with her own children but now insists she takes her grandchildren to school so she can continue her tradition. She uses every second before the gates shut to broadcast her life to anyone within earshot, loudly recounting her “amazing weekend” in Benidorm and casually reminding everyone how gifted her grandchild is. The other parents have perfected the art of ducking behind their cars to avoid her, but Kimberley remains undeterred. She knows this is her moment and refuses to let reality ruin it.
These drawings were created in the process of creating my book 'Margarets Got Beef With Number 26' (also available here). Each one is an original and comes with a copy of their character tale and sent in an embossed envelope.
