Ivy owns an interior design company aimed squarely at the Live Laugh Love demographic of Barnsley. Her speciality is turning perfectly normal homes into shrines of grey, with the occasional pop of “luxury teal” to show she is not afraid of colour. Every room she touches ends up with an oversized wall clock, crushed velvet scatter cushions, and at least one inspirational quote above the loo.
She describes her aesthetic as “timeless elegance,” but it is really a mash-up of Pinterest boards from 2014 and whatever is on sale at The Range. Her proudest creation was a feature wall entirely covered in faux brick wallpaper and fairy lights, which she calls “industrial chic” despite it looking like a pub smoking area.
Ivy is beloved by her clients, who genuinely believe a “GIN O’CLOCK” sign and clinking wine glass splash back in the kitchen has transformed their lives.
These drawings were created in the process of creating my book 'Margarets Got Beef With Number 26' (also available here). Each one is an original and comes with a copy of their character tale and sent in an embossed envelope.
