Rupert - Original Ink Drawing (with character tale)
3.5” x 2.5” (ACEO) ink on textured card
Rupert has Tourette’s and, unfortunately for him, is part of the aristocracy. This means he is regularly in the company of royals, which makes his verbal tics infinitely more disastrous. He spends every event silently begging the universe not to blurt “CAMILLA” in the wrong context or accidentally shout “DIANA WAS BETTER” during grace at Buckingham Palace.
He apologises before he has even spoken, bowing so deeply it looks like a health and safety risk, and has developed the air of being constantly braced for social implosion. Ordering a coffee is bad enough, but the stakes are considerably higher when he is seated next to Princess Anne.
Despite the constant tension, Rupert is tolerated because he is, after all, a tiger in a bow tie, which lends him a certain novelty. Deep down he dreads the inevitable scandal, but he also knows that the day he accidentally shouts something unprintable in front of the King will be the moment he secures his place in the history books.
These drawings were created in the process of creating my book 'Margarets Got Beef With Number 26' (also available here). Each one is an original and comes with a copy of their character tale and sent in an embossed envelope.
