LEFT BEHIND | Dolls recovered from forgotten fairytales

Some things are lost. Others are deliberately hidden.

RECOVERED OBJECT NO. 012

Hester is a one-of-a-kind, handmade textile art doll from my Left Behind collection, a series of peculiar creatures that might once have belonged to children from fairytales you have never heard.

Made from fabric, individually hand-painted and dressed in tattered scraps of cloth, Hester a very enchanting badger. She has painted bones and weighted hands and feet. Her body bears curious markings and evidence of repairs, some of which may not have been entirely conventional.

Each doll has its own imagined history, recorded on an accompanying archive card.
