LEFT BEHIND | Dolls recovered from forgotten fairytales

Some things are lost. Others are deliberately hidden.

RECOVERED OBJECT NO. 001

Walter is a one-of-a-kind, handmade textile art doll from my Left Behind collection, a series of peculiar creatures that might once have belonged to children from fairytales you have never heard.

Made from fabric, individually hand-painted and dressed in tattered scraps of cloth, Walter is a rather watchful fox with a long, narrow face, painted bones, weighted hands and feet and a small key upon his chest. His body bears curious markings and evidence of repairs, some of which may not have been entirely conventional.

Each doll has its own imagined history, recorded on an accompanying archive card.
